Is it safe to stack kitchen appliances?

Going to sound a little silly, but I just moved in a new apartment and the kitchen, putting it lightly, is much smaller. Does anyone know would it be unsafe to put my rice cooker on top of my microwave to save space? I would turn them on while they are stacked like that, just not at the same time. However of course if this is unsafe, I’ll be finding another spot. Any advice? Past experiences?
