I want to update my kitchen with new appliances and I want to get all the same name brand for each one. All my appliances are electric and the frig will be a side by side and a smooth surface for the stove. I have a microwave over the stove as well as a dishwasher, so I would prefer them to be the same name brand. Please let me know which brand is the best for all these.

Call around to different repairmen in your area and see who repairs what. Just because Lowe’s sells it does not mean that someone in the area will repair it if there is a problem. Also ask Lowe’s what happens if there is a warranty issue. I’m betting you will be on your own unless you buy their “extended warranty” plan.
Friends of mine bought a high end LG stove from a big box retailer and did not buy the extended warranty. 3 months later, two of the burners shut off when they feel like it and LG doesn’t have a repairman in the area. And of course, the repair guys from 1 1/2 hours away won’t come because LG won’t pay them mileage and drive time. What it boils down to is that my friend will be paying for the warranty repairs and has to submit them to LG and hope they pay for them all.
These service contracts and extended warranty plans are a very high profit item for retailers to sell. They only offer coverage during the first years of the appliance life; when it is least likely to fail. Product doesn’t have an issue; they pocket the money.
Truthfully, I’d spend the extra bucks and buy from a local, well established dealer not a big box retailer. Then if you ever need service you know who to call and that they will take care of the issue.
maytag, frigidaire, and whirlpool are all good appliances.. i have a frigidaire microwave , and oven, whirl pool washer, and maytag refrigerator. they all work great.
When we bought our present home we replaced all the appliances. They are all Whirlpool and we’ve been satisfied with the service from them all. Lowe’s sells Whirlpool but, in spite of their ads, you should check prices at other retailers. We found a much better deal on the built in oven and microwave at Sears, but Lowe’s had them beat on the dishwasher and cooktop.
